October 2011 - Corunna, MI Rally

The October Michigan Knights of the Highway rally will be October 7, 8, 9 2011 - Shiawassee County Fairgrounds (GPS) 2900 E. Hibbard Road, Corunna, , MI.

Driving Directions:

 From I-69 Eastbound – Take Exit 113.  At the end of the off-ramp, turn left (West) on Grand River Rd.  Turn right (North) on State Rd.  At Hibbard Rd., turn Right and watch for the Fairgrounds entrance on the Right.

 From I-69 Westbound – Take Exit 113.  At the end of the off-ramp, turn right (West) on Grand River Rd.  Turn right (North) on State Rd.  At Hibbard Rd., turn Right and watch for the Fairgrounds entrance on the Right.

 From M-21 – East of Owosso, take State Road to the South.  At Hibbard Rd., turn Left and watch for the Fairgrounds entrance on the Right.

Everyone welcome to come early and stay late. Wednesday Noon through Monday, all extra nights camping $20.00 per night (Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday nights).  If you come before Thursday or stay late, the Michigan Knights of the Highway are not responsible for any damages or injuries you may experience.  If you arrive before Thursday, the parking crew may have to relocate you on Thursday.

 Interesting Stuff

The October 2011 rally at the Fairgrounds outside Corunna is interesting as on June 2^nd 1963, a group of “house car” owners met in McCurdy Park in Corunna for the first known “motorhome” rally in North America.  This group eventually named themselves the Michigan Knights of the Highway.  Click Here for more information and pictures about that historic Knights rally.  McCurdy Park is on W. Corunna Avenue just West of S. Shiawassee Street in downtown Corunna.

Thursday, Oct 6 -   Spend the day relaxing and chatting with fellow Knights. 

Friday, Oct 7       -   About 10:00 a.m. - Golf Outing with Jim Riemersma. 

11:30 AM – Ladies luncheon. Please meet at 11:30 at the host’s motorhome for car pooling and pictures. 

5:30 – Potluck supper– bring dish to pass and own table service and beverage (coffee, tea & water will be provided).

After Supper – Pumpkin Carving & Decorating contest.  Bring your own carving knives or accessories.  Paint & Magic Markers will be furnished. 

Saturday, Oct 8   -    9:00 AM – Coffee, Cookies, and fellowship with first timers  

Farmers Market downtown Owosso (also on Friday).

Curwood Castle - Owosso (also on Friday).

Uncle John’s Cider Mill – St. Johns (25 miles – Also on Friday). 

          5:30 PM Catered Supper – Grilled & BBQ Chicken, Redskin Potatoes, Baked Beans, Lettuce Salad, Rolls & Butter, Dessert.
